37 illegal water connections disconnected in Poochal Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, JUNE 05: To ensure equitable access besides to maintain a fair and reliable water supply system, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department Kishtwar today took a decisive action in the Poochal area  by disconnecting 37 illegal/unregistered water connections.

A team led by Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Rajesh Singh, along with Junior Engineer (JE) Mohsin Mushtaq and other field functionaries from the PHE Sub Division Kishtwar, visited the Poochal   to address the issue by disconnecting the illegal connections followed by sealing of the bores.

The disconnection drive was initiated following the concerns raised by the local residents during the recent Block Diwas programme, where they apprised the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav,   about the prevalence of illegal connections.

The unauthorized connections have been causing water shortage and misappropriation of water supply meant for the legitimate connection holders in the area. Responding promptly to the grievances expressed by the public, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Executive Engineer, PHE to take immediate action and disconnect the illegal connections to ensure uninterrupted water supply amid the summer season.

  Executive Engineer PHE, Sunil Sharma informed that similar drives will be carried out in the future to establish a rationalized water distribution system across the habitations of the district.

He advised the public to refrain from such illegal activities and urged those with unregistered connections to regularize them immediately.
