3 month Skill Development Course takes off at GBHSS Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, September 19: The District Employment and Counseling Centre (DE&CC), in collaboration with G.K. Educational Trust, today started a 3-month long Skill Development Training Course in ‘Tally & Excel” here in Government Boys Higher Secondary School to facilitate the aspirants to enhance their skills.

Under the programme, participating candidates are being provided free of cost Skill Training along with monthly stipend of Rs 1000. The candidates will also be assisted in getting employment opportunities after completion of the course through job fairs and other means.

The training programme was inaugurated by Joint Director Employment Jammu Division, Dr. Khalid Hussain Malik in the presence of Deputy Director Employment,   Idrees Lone, GM, DIC Mohamad Ashraf; District Employment Officer, Vinod Shant and other officials and faculty members of ITI Kishtwar and Polytechnic College. The event was attended by over 600 students of GHS Boys School, ITI Kishtwar and Polytechnic.

Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Director discussed the utility of Tally software in managing day to day finances and GST aspect of every commercial establishment. He also talked about the importance of entrepreneurship where anyone can start from a small initiative and make it big with his persistence and learning in the process. He also discussed the training initiatives being taken by the department in collaboration with private players like Tech Mahindra Foundation and Larsen &Toubro in different sectors for upskilling. He also emphasized that our department is actively reaching out to the unemployed youth and is guiding them on their path towards securing a sustainable livelihood by organizing Job Fairs, Career Counseling Sessions, Awareness Camps, implementing Self-Employment Schemes and more recently Skill Training Programmes.

The Deputy Director Employment   emphasized that this course is not just about technical skills. He addressed it to be a first step in the lives of the candidates in their journey of skilling. This training will be further substantiated by other training courses in future. He also motivated students to take advantage of the programme and learn with all zeal and zest. Moreover, he said that we have to work together to empower our youth, build a skilled workforce, and create a brighter future for all.

The GM DIC talked about taking initiatives and becoming job providers rather than becoming an employee. A job provider is more beneficial for any society than being an employee. Raghav, Project Director ( GK Education Trust) highlighted the importance of the course and lauded the skilling initiative by the department. He also talked about the opportunities that will be presented to candidates after course completion.
