29th Annual Sindhu Darshan Yatra Flagged Off with Great Enthusiasm from Jammu
30th Yatra to be Celebrated as Kumbh Yatra Next Year
Jammu, 19 June 2025: In a grand and spiritually charged ceremony, the 29th Annual Sindhu Darshan Yatra, organized by the Sindhu Darshan Utsav Samiti, was ceremoniously flagged off from Jammu today.


The flagging-off ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries including J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, MLA Bahu and National Vice-President of Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti Ch. Vikram Randhawa, former Dy Mayor and Pradesh Samiti member Adv. Purnima Sharma, Ajay Gupta, President of Sindhu Darshan Samiti, Satish Mittal, Akhil Bharatiya Committee Member of the Samiti, Narinder Aggarwal, Yatra Incharge, and Ajay Sharma of Sanskar Bharti.
The Yatra, which was started in 1997 by then Deputy Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani, has evolved significantly since its humble beginnings with a small group of 30 devotees. Over the years, the pilgrimage has grown to include over 1,500 pilgrims from various states of India, reflecting the increasing national faith in the cultural and spiritual importance of the Sindhu River, symbolizing national unity and heritage.
This year, the Yatra will begin its spiritual journey from Jammu, with its first halt in Srinagar, second halt in Kargil, and will reach Leh on 22nd June. A series of cultural programmes will be organized in Leh on 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th June, with the significant Sindhu Ghat religious and cultural bath scheduled on 24th June. The total duration of the Yatra is 11 days.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the gathering, said, “The Sindhu Darshan Yatra is not just a pilgrimage; it is a reaffirmation of our ancient civilizational values, our national unity, and our commitment to cultural resurgence. The immense growth of this Yatra underlines the growing spiritual consciousness of the people under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jammu is proud to be a starting point for such a noble journey.”
Ch. Vikram Randhawa added, “I am honoured to be part of this sacred journey. The Sindhu River represents the soul of Bharat, and this Yatra binds our spiritual aspirations with patriotism. It’s a symbol of unity beyond barriers. As National Vice-President of the Samiti, I assure every possible support for the comfort and safety of all yatris.”
Adv. Purnima Sharma said that the Sindhu Darshan Yatra continues to stand as a vibrant symbol of India’s unity in diversity, cultural strength, and unwavering devotion. This Yatra will further elevate the sanctity and significance of the Sindhu Darshan at the national level, she added.
Ajay Gupta expressed deep pride in organizing the 29th edition and announced, “With the blessings of saints and spiritual leaders, we are excited to announce that the upcoming 30th Sindhu Darshan Yatra will be celebrated as a Kumbh Yatra, marking a new milestone in this divine journey.”
