2-Day Civil Defence Refresher Training concludes at 2nd Battalion Hdqrts Jammu
JAMMU, MAY 16: In a significant initiative aimed at equipping Civil Defence wardens and volunteers with vital life-saving skills, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) 2nd Battalion, Jammu, successfully conducted a two-day capacity building refresher training course from May 15 to May 16, 2025.
During the course, the SDRF officers highlighted the critical role of Civil Defence personnel in disaster situations, emphasizing the importance of specialized techniques. The wardens and volunteers were lauded for their commendable efforts during the recent border crisis, and the need for continuous skill enhancement was underscored in light of the prevailing security and disaster management scenario.
Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion, Zahid Naseem Manhas, addressed the participants and instructed the training staff to ensure the highest standards of instruction. The comprehensive training module covered a range of topics including air raid precautions, emergency rescue methods, CPR, first aid, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) precautions, fire-fighting and rescue techniques, as well as identification of various sirens used in emergencies.
All 72 trainees expressed appreciation for the practical and insightful sessions, noting a significant improvement in their understanding and confidence in handling disaster situations.
The valedictory function was attended by all SDRF officers. Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, representing the Controller Civil Defence Jammu, was also present at the closing ceremony and arranged refreshments for the participants.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Chief Warden Civil Defence Jammu, Paramjit Kumar, who expressed gratitude to all officers, guests, and participants.
Among other dignitaries present were Dy. SP Gurvinder Kour, Dy. SP Manzoor Hussain, Dy. SP Dinesh Gupta of SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu, and Deputy Chief Warden R. Vijay Magotra.
