World’s Most Technologically Advanced Cricketing Venue Will Leave You Mesmerized

The Narendra Modi Stadium, previously known as Sardar Patel stadium, is the world’s most technologically advanced cricketing venue. It is the largest stadium in the world, built on the banks of the Sabarmati river on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, having a capacity of 1,32,000 spectators. It was opened on 24th Feb 2020 and officially inaugurated on 24th Feb 2021. The state government donated 50 acres of land to build the Stadium, and the construction was completed within nine months. It is spread across 63 acres and has three entry points. It has 76 corporate boxes with a seating capacity of 25 each. It also has an Olympic-size swimming pool and four dressing rooms.

What makes this stadium so tech savvy? With the 360-degree podium concourse, one can catch all the action without any pillars, seated anywhere in the Stadium.

The Stadium has LED lights installed on the roof instead of floodlights. The view of the Stadium is breathtaking as the lights sparkle all around. Its roofing has been designed by consulting engineering firm Walter P Moore. Polytetrafluoroethylene, a Teflon-coated woven fibreglass, has been stretched across a circumferential inner tension ring and an outer compression ring. These rings float between the bowl and the roof via radial cable spokes to allow for movement in case of seismic activity.

The Gujarat Cricket Association has established a “Hall of fame” which features all the prominent cricketing memories and legends of the sport to give visitors to the Stadium a more mesmerising experience.

Apart from the local and international cricket matches, it is also made available for community use. A community indoor cricket academy will be housed under the podium in the Stadium, with a dormitory for upto 40 athletes, allowing students from across India and the globe to attend.
