Special teams launch intensified Market checking drive across Ganderbal district

GANDERBAL, March 27: Special teams of District Administration Ganderbal today launched intensified Market checking drive across the district.

The drive was conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir to curb the hoardings and profiteering in Ganderbal markets.

The checking squad under the supervision of Assistant Director FCS&CA Ganderbal, Dr. Naseer Ahmad Baba conducted an intensive market checking in main town and booked several erring shopkeepers found failing to maintain the quality of food items, not displaying rate lists of essential commodities, selling expiry products, besides indulging in practices of illegal profiteering and sale of underweight products.

During the market checking fines were imposed on the erring shopkeepers and rotten vegetables and other items were destroyed on the spot.

Meanwhile,  joint team of revenue, food, legal metrology, MC Ganderbal and police conducted  market checking in main markets of town and fine of Rs, 1200 was realized from erring shopkeepers. Further rotten vegetables were destroyed on spot and shopkeepers were directed to display govt approved rate list.

Similarly, intensified market checking was also conducted in Kangan Sub-Division where joint teams including revenue, police,egal metrology, food safety and CAPD imposed a fine of Rs 3800 from erring shopkeepers.
