Sewa Parv-2025: Bandipora witnesses series of activities with enthusiastic public participation

BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 23: Continuing the spirit of Sewa Parv 2025, a series of cleanliness, awareness, and community-oriented activities were today carried out across district Bandipora by various departments and municipal bodies with active public involvement.

Wetlands and Wular Conservation Management Authority (WUCMA) organized an awareness programme to sensitise fisherfolk about sustainable fishing practices, and also highlighted linkages with social welfare schemes for their welfare.

Municipal Committee Hajin conducted a door-to-door plastic waste collection drive along with cleanliness campaigns at the Animal Husbandry office and the Well Baby Clinic.

Similarly, Municipal Committee Sumbal carried out an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign on source segregation and scientific waste management. Awareness programmes and on-site visits were also conducted under PMAY (U) to guide beneficiaries. 

The Committee further undertook activities including cleanliness of Jhelum banks, clearance of community toilets, registration of vendors under PM SVANidhi, verification of PMAY beneficiaries, and sanitation of the revered Ziyarat Sharif Syed Abdullah Shah Bukhari.

Social Forestry Range Bandipora, Division Baramulla, organized an awareness programme at Panchayat Ghar Ashtangoo on reducing single-use plastics. The programme saw participation of locals, students, and staff, and was followed by a plantation drive to encourage eco-friendly practices.

Municipal Council Bandipora also carried out several activities under Sewa Parv, including clearance of community toilets near Papchan Bridge, cleanliness drives on the banks of Wular Lake at Lankreshipora and near Jamia Masjid Nusoo, awareness among households residing along the Jhelum at Lankreshipora, besides clearance of identified hotspots along the Onagam–Kaloosa road.
