‘Raj Bhavan’ in Jammu and Kashmir officially renamed ‘Lok Bhavan’ following MHA directive 

Jammu, Dec 2: The official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has been renamed from Raj Bhavan to Lok Bhavan, as per a directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. The change was formally implemented through an order issued by Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, and comes into immediate effect. 

The renaming aligns with a broader national move to replace colonial-era nomenclature, following recommendations made during the Governors’ Conference. Jammu and Kashmir is among several states and one Union Territory that have adopted the new title “Lok Bhavan” for gubernatorial residences, also similar changes are brought almost throughout the country.
