PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar College organises Poster making competition and rally on HIV-AIDS

JAMMU, March 17: The Red Ribbon Club of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar conducted a poster-making competition and rally on AIDS awareness in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society today. The event was held under the guidance of Prof BD Sehgal and convenorship of Dr Shalini Sharma.

66 students participated in an AIDS awareness event where 32 created message-oriented posters in a competition.

Dr Irvinder Kour, Head of Home Science Department, Dr Anuradha Gandotra, Head of Food Science and Technology Department and Prof Neelam Bhagat from Home Science Department were the jury members.

Muskan Bali of Semester 5 bagged first position while Ashpreet Kour of Semester 3 secured second position and third position was bagged by Anushka Sharma of Semester 3. All participants were later given certificates also.

On the occasion, the students took out a rally to raise awareness about AIDS. The rally passed through the by-lanes of Green Belt area and culminated back in the college premises where students shouted slogans and participated enthusiastically. Present on the occasion were Dr Revika Arora, Dr Neelima Gupta, Prof Abhinav Sharma, Prof Harmeet and Prof Sunita members of Red Ribbon Club.

Principal Prof Minu Mahajan congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of Red Ribbon Club committee members. She said that such awareness programmes are necessary to prevent diseases before they occur as prevention is always better than cure.
