GDC Mahanpur celebrates Independence Day by organizing several Cultural Programs

MAHANPUR, August 15: GDC Mahanpur celebrated Independence Day by organizing a series of Cultural Programmes to mark India’s 75 th Independence Day on 15 th of August, 2022 in the College Campus under the flagship banner of Azadi ka Amrut Mohatsav. The Programme was organised by NSS Unit in collaboration with Scouts and Guides and IQAC under the supervision of the worthy Principal, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul.



The National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, Principal of the College, along with the faculty and students in the College Campus. The Cultural event was initiated by Dr. Sapna Devi, HOD Hindi and NSS Programme Officer. The festivities commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp followed by the Welcome address of Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, Principal of the College.


In his address he not only shared his incredible experiences and stories to motivate the

students as well as the faculty but also highlighted the real and true meaning of Independence. He concluded his Address by wishing ‘Happy Independence Day’ to the gathering.



The students participated with great enthusiasm and presented various cultural items. Sakshi Billawaria and her Group sang Scouts and Guides Prayer Song, Pooja and Group sang two Patriotic Songs, Neelam Sharma gave the speech on History of Independence, Pallvi recited a Patriotic Poem, Rekha and Arti sang a beautiful Patriotic Song, Pooja presented the meaning of 24 spokes of Ashoka Chakara and the Programme concluded with the Group dance by Shevani and Group.


Moreover, the Winners and Runner Ups of the Intra-Mural Table-Tennis Tournament (Men & Women) and Chess Tournament (Men and Women) were felicitated with Trophies by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul (Principal), Dr. Balbindar Singh (Physical Director) and other staff members. The Formal Vote of Thank was presented by Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia, HOD English and Ranger Leader of Scouts and Guides.


The faculty members who were present in the Programme were Dr. Balbindar Singh, Prof. Arvind Kumar, Saurabh Dutta, Prof. Meena Devi, Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia, Dr. Neetika Verma, Dr. Hilal Bhat, and Vishakha Shrama. Others Staff members were also present in the Programme include Romesh Lal, Ashok Kumar,Surinder Kumar, Jia Lal, Sew Ram, Sunny Sharma and Anu Radha. Sweets in the form of refreshment were also given to all the students.
