DC Reasi launches plastics & litter free Katra campaign
REASI, February 17: District Administration Reasi today launched a plastic free campaign to promote effective Solid Waste Management and discourage use of plastics, polythene in the holy Katra Township.
The ‘KACCHRA MUKT KATRA’ campaign was kick-started by the Deputy Commissioner with the inauguration of a plastic bailer machine donated by Indian Pollution Control Agency, New Delhi.
The objective of the campaign is to educate the Pilgrims and the general masses in particular about the need and importance of Solid Waste Management and the hazardous effects of use of Polythene/Plastics to the environment.
The DC appealed to the traders and general masses to discard the use of Polythene and Plastics in day to day life and inspire others to participate in the campaign to make it a success. He urged the prominent citizens and the common masses to cooperate with the administration in making the Katra Town polythene free.
On the occasion, the DC distributed safety gear to civic workers of Municipal Committee Katra trained for segregation activities.
Others present on the occasion included Chairperson MC Vimal Indu, Vice-Chairperson Ajay Baru, ward councillors, CEO KDA Preeti Sharma, EPR Manager Ranbir Singh and prominent citizens.
