Congress writes to LG about DDC reservation roaster seeks immediate review

Jammu, 14 January : Congress has written to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha about the reservation roaster for women in the DDC chairpersons and sought its immediate review to rectify the illegality and attempt to deprive the eligible DDC members from the right to contest.

The JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma, in a letter to the Lt. Governor, on behalf of JKPCC, has written regarding the issue of public importance and sought his immediate intervention.


The request letter seeks LG attention to the arbitrary and unreasonable criteria of reservation roaster adopted by the government, which is a departure from the settled norms and past practice in the DDCs, Panchyats and all Urban Bodies where the women reservation started from serial number one in the alphabetical order like 1, 4, 7 & so on whereas in this case it has started from S.No. 3,6,9,12 etc. The party has questioned the reasons for this departure from the settled norms and past practice and doubted that some other motive behind it.

The party urged the LG to take immediate notice of the genuine issue raised in the larger public interests and in the fairness of the system and sought its immediate review, so that the eligible DDC members are not deprived of their right to contest for the post of chairpersons of various DDCs
