Commemorating 50 years of Vijay Diwas


Jammu, Dec 18: Vijay Diwas is commemorated every 16th December to observe victory of India over Pakistan which resulted in unilateral & unconditional surrender of the Pakistan Army and subsequent secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh.

Since 16 December 1971 every year, citizens, senior officials, students & war veterans lay wreaths and remember sacrifices of the fallen.


The year 2020 marks 50th anniversary of ‘Vijay Diwas’ which was celebrated in Sunrise Brigade by an array of activities such as cycling expedition of 71 kms in which Commander of Sunrise Brigade & group of six officers, three JCOs & four other ranks participated.


Other activities eg. cumulative 71 kms run, tattoo formation of figure 1971, tea with Veterans, 7.1 kms race for the kids & guard of honour at Bambu Chak in presence of 25 ESMs were also organized to commemorate the occasion & remember the fallen soldiers for their ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
