Captain Amarinder Singh Resigns From Congress, Announces His New Party “Punjab Lok Congress”

Former Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.



In the letter, he outlined his political career spanning almost six decades starting after he served in the 1965 War and the decisions he made in that time. He criticised the Indian National Congress’ handling of Punjab Congress and in particular Navjot S Sidhu.


He further spoke about his stance on the three Farm Laws.


On the occasion, Capt Amrinder Singh further announced the name of his new party, Punjab Lok Congress, registration of which is pending approval with the Election Commission of India. A copy of the letter is produced below:
