3-day Historic Sudhmahadev mela commences at Udhampur

SUDHMAHADEV, June 13: The historic Sudhmahadev mela in tehsil Chenani of Udhampur district commenced today with great zeal and enthusiasm.



Thousands of devotees from within and outside the UT visited the holy Sudhmahadev temple to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva during the first day of the mela.


Chairman Block Development Council, Chennai, Parkash Chand was the chief guest who formally inaugurated the mela in presence of DDC Councillor, Usha Devi, Sub Divisional Magistrate Chenani, Parvaiz Naik.



While extending his best wishes to the people on the occasion, he said that such melas depicts the rich cultural and religious heritage and helps to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and communal harmony among the people.


The District Administration had made elaborated arrangements including uninterrupted power supply, provision of safe drinking water, sanitation, medical facilities, setting up of control room and security arrangements for the smooth celebration of the mela.


Various government departments have setup their departmental stalls to educate the common masses about the various state and centrally sponsored schemes for the socio-economic upliftment of the people.



On the occasion, the cultural troops drawn from various educational institutions including local folk artist presented folk dances and cultural programmes depicting the tradition of the areas which was highly appreciated by the audience.


Among others, DDC member Ghordi Rakesh Kumar, Tehsildar, Ved Parkash, Block Medical Officer, Block Development Officer and other tehsil level officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
