NYK, GDC Reasi host Yuva Utsav -Panch Pran

REASI, May 26: Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India on Friday organized “Yuva Utsav” in collaboration with NSS Unit of Govt Degree College, Reasi.

Around 300 young participants from across the district participated in 5 different competitive events viz Young Artists Camp – Painting, Young Writers Contest – Poetry, Mobile Photography Contest, Declamation Contest and Group Cultural Fest.

The Chief Guest of the event was the College Principal, Dr. Kulvinder Kour, while DIO Rajinder Digra was the guest of honor. The event was coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Ajay Kumar.

The event started with the lighting of the traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta. He welcomed the Guests, Jury, Faculty members, Staff and students of various educational institutions. He focused on Panch Pran and briefed the audience about the objectives of organizing such events.

He said that Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, through its field offices, is organizing Yuva Utsav in all the districts across the nation and the winners of all components of Yuva Utsav will qualify for State Level Yuva Utsav followed by the National level Yuva Utsav.

The event witnessed scintillating performances by participating  cultural teams , while the participants of the declamation contest also spoke on the topic “Panch Pran”.

The students also participated in a poetry contest. The contestants of Mobile Photography were given 2 hour time to take their best photographs. The event also witnessed special performances by renowned artists.

At the end, Dr. Kulvinder Kour lauded Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur for organising such a grand event. She added that youth should come forward and participate in such programmes to showcase their talent. She urged NYK to organise more such events in future.

The DIO Reasi, in his address urged the rural youth in particular to make the best use of such platforms and represent themselves in nation building activities. He also focused on various initiatives taken by the District Administration to uplift rural and the underprivileged.

The event ended with the presentation of  prizes and certificates to the winners and jury.
