KVK hosts awareness event on Mission LiFE

Poonch Campus shines in Poster making, Debate competition

POONCH, MAY 27: Students of Poonch Campus shined in Poster making and Debate competition on Mission LiFE organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Poonch. The theme of the Competition was “Say no to single use plastic” and “Waste to wealth”.

The Poster making and debate competition was organised as the part of the initiative of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Government of India envisages to organize the activities for advocacy and awareness about mission LiFE and to mark the occasion of World Environment Day 2023 on 5th June and observance of International Millets year- 2023.

In the Poster Competition, Poonch Campus bagged all three positions. Jyoti Sharma bagged 1st Position,  Shivali bagged 2nd Position, while  3rd Position was shared by Chail Singh and Sonia – all students of Poonch Campus

In the debate Competition, Poonch Campus bagged 2nd and 3rd Position. Nitish Singh Pangotra bagged 2nd Position, while 3rd Position was clinched by Simran Shan.

Prof. Rakesh Vaid, Director Poonch Campus, in his message, congratulated the winners and faculty of Poonch Campus. He also thanked the Head and officials of KVK Poonch.  

Dr Ajay Gupta, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Poonch, Dr Muzafar Mir, Scientist Horticulture KVK Poonch, SKUAST-JAMMU, while speaking on the occasion, congratulated Poonch Campus for winning both Debate and Poster competitions.

They also mentioned the widespread belief that climate change is primarily a political issue. This leads to the conclusion that only the government or international organisations should handle this crucial issue. Climate change is having an impact on people’s surroundings, and in recent years, unanticipated disasters have been reported. This is amply demonstrating that climate change goes beyond only influencing individuals, families, and communities and all should do their part to protect the environment.

Dr. Ajay Gupta informed that various activities including; Save Energy, Save Water, Adopt Sustainable healthy lifestyle, Reduce Waste, E-Waste, Plantation Drive, Say no to Single Use Plastic will be organized as part of mission LiFE campaign from 20th May to 5th June 2023.

Dr. Rubia Bukhari, Campus Officer Poonch, while speaking on the occasion thanked Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) for organizing such events on a very important topic.
