Jammu’s Mehak Kohli on winning Mrs India Grand Modeling Pageant 2021 & shattering all glass ceilings

Imagine the spotlight turned onto you. Your dress glittering under the lights with crowds cheering your name. That is just a slice of what Mehak Kohli experienced when she was crowned Mrs India Grand Modelling Pageant 2021. For her, this was a dream come true.

Mehak always aspired to be a beauty Queen but felt her dream slip away when she married at the tender age of 19. Winning the title made her smash the glass ceiling set in place for married women. After becoming a mother to two, she worked persistently on her fitness goals. With her family supporting her, nothing felt out of reach.

During lockdown, she got many offers, but her singular focus was on her fitness journey. Her hard work paid off when she came in as the second runner-up of Opera 2021. That was a turning point for her, and she worked persistently on her fitness goals, and finally, she won the title of Mrs India in Grand Modelling Pageant 2021.

The crown felt like it belonged to her head. The glowing accolades completely changed her life. Everywhere she went people knew who she was. From a homemaker to a household name, Mehak Kohli’s journey chartered the course of her life to the exquisite. From the children at her kid’s school to random adults, everyone knew who she was. For her, the journey was a long one but one that was worth it.

Her title for ‘beautiful skin’ is a tag that has followed her from her school time. The secret behind her beautiful skin is her yoga and exercise routine. According to her, facials and face creams give a temporary glow, but yoga gives a permanent glow. As a fitness model, she gives an hour to her body daily. Her mantra is that it helps to relieve stress and to upkeep your health.

For Mehak, her idol is Katrina Kaif. She follows her to the T. Every aspect of Katrina’s fashion, like her dress, hairstyle and physique is fascinating to her. She takes inspiration from Kaif’s work ethic and discipline and imbibes that in her wellness routine.

For Mehak the world is her oyster. As offers for movies and video albums keep pouring in, Mehak is spoilt for options. She recently filled out a form for the Zee TV show ‘DID Super Moms’ and hopes to make her family proud with their support.

As a mother, she loves her family and children but believes that all women should carve a niche for themselves. Doing something simple like taking an hour of your day for self care can help rejuvenate a person, Mehak believes and stresses on self care as a form of self healing. This, she says, can help avoid stress and common health issues like blood pressure, thyroid, as activities like yoga and exercises can aid in a healthier lifestyle.

For Mehak, mental health is as important as physical health. Celebrating small things and trying to be happy can go a long way in maintaining balance, she says, adding that women are the backbone of society.

As a role model Mehak believes she’s come a long way in forging the path for others like her and hopes that her story inspires more women to take the plunge into the world of health, wellness and beauty: both inside and out.
