Jammu silkworm rearers embark on training tour to Himachal Pradesh

JAMMU, March 17: Additional Director Sericulture Development Department Jammu, Ashwini Kumar Sharma, flagged off a group of 48 progressive silkworm rearers from different districts of Jammu division on a two-day interstate training and exposure visit to Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. The visit is part of the Capacity Building and Skill Up-gradation program under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme – ATMA 2022-23.

On the occasion, the Additional Director said that the department is endeavouring to supplement the resources and capabilities of silkworm rearers to boost their economic profile. Such training visits are part of these programs.

During their tour, sericulture farmers will visit CSK Agriculture University Palampur along with sericulture farms and seed production centers run by Sericulture Department of Himachal Pradesh. They will get acquainted with the latest sericulture technologies adopted by their counterparts to boost cocoon crop production and productivity.
