GDC Ramgarh hosts Screening of Documentary on ‘Mission LiFE’

SAMBA, May 23: Government Degree College Ramgarh today hosted the screening of a Documentary on the theme ‘Mission LiFE’ as the part of a series of activities being organized by Eco Club of the college to mark the celebrations of World Environment Day.

The event was organized under the guidance of Prof.(Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College. The event was organized in collaboration with NSS under the aegis of G20 cell to commemorate India’s Presidency in G20 in 2023.

Prof. Risha Kumari, Convener Eco Club said that Mission LiFE aims to nudge individuals and communities to protect and preserve the environment and ensure sustainable development. Further, she added that Mission LiFE focuses on the actions that are related to saving energy, water, reducing the single use plastic, adoption of a sustainable food system and reduction of waste among others. Also she included that the students must adopt the concept of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’.

At the outset, Dr. Sandeep Kumar briefed the audience about the importance of the day and explained that the Mission LiFE is designed to inspire people to change their behavior by becoming followers of ‘Lifestyle for Environment’.

A large number of students as well as all the faculty members of the college participated in the event with great zeal and enthusiasm. Two documentaries were screened through which the students were made aware to utilize the natural resources to preserve the environment, to promote eco friendly disposables, to carry shopping bags with themselves, to turn off the taps when not in use and switching to longer-lasting alternatives to single use plastic bags.

The event was organized by Prof. Risha Kumari, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr Shamsher Lal and Dr. Anjali Bala. The faculty members who were present include Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Dr Rahul Kundal,  Sanjeev Kumar, Ashish Kumar and Dr. Javed Ahmed Ganie.
