UDHAMPUR, May 09: NSS Unit and IQAC Cell, Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur, in collaboration with District Election Department, Udhampur organized one day Awareness Programme under the banner of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
The programme was organized under the able guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. Hans Raj. The guest of the event was Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, Assistant Commissioner Revenue..
The event was started with a keynote address by Prof. Hans Raj, Principal, he emphasized that the purpose of the programme was to educate the students regarding electoral literacy and also to empower them with the knowledge to participate effectively in the election process so that no voter would be left behind.
Further, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, the main speaker of the event, initiated his talk with the introduction of the theme “SVEEP”. He highlighted various articles related to elections enshrined in the Constitution of India. He motivated the students to ensure their enrollment in the electoral polls in order to enhance the participation in forthcoming elections for stronger democracy. He also urged the students not to indulge in drug addiction and devote time for physical activity and sports everyday to keep them-selves fit to make India a fit nation.
The other members of the District Election Department present on the occasion were Puran Chand, Naib Tehsildar Tikri, Milap Singh Girdawar Neeli Nallah.
Ramdas retired Teacher-Senior citizen, Vijay Kumar Nambardar, Vidya Nath Nambardar and Booth Level Officers were also present on the occasion.
The whole event was organized by Prof. Swati Dutt, Dr. Radha Rani, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen and Manisha Kanchru. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Pratibha Heer.
