DDC Udhampur reviews progress under Jal Jeevan Mission in district

UDHAMPUR, May 04: To review the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in the district, the District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Sachin Kumar Vaishya convened a meeting of Officers of Jal Shakti Department and other concerned at Mini Conference Hall DC Office Udhampur.

Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Udhampur alongwith Technical team and Additional District Development Commissioner Ghan Sham Singh were also present.

At the outset Executive Engineer, Ashok Kumar Sharma briefed about the progress of all the 159 schemes executed under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide safe drinking water supply in rural areas. 

All the executed schemes and their latest status was discussed during the meeting and instructions were issued to concerned to intensify the process of execution. The directions were also issued by the District Development Commissioner for speeding up the tendering process and the completion of the schemes in a mission mode manner.

While reviewing the progress of the scheme, the DDC said that the Jal Jeevan Mission is centrally sponsored scheme launched by the government of India with an objective to provide 100 per cent tap water to all households across the nation. He asked the Jal Shakti Department to gear up men and machinery in coordination with other departments for effective implementation of the scheme on ground. 

The DDC exhorted the officers of the Jal Shakti Department to work with enthusiasm and zeal for the effective implementation of the schemes in letter and spirit in the district. He urged the general public to come forward for availing the benefits of various schemes and programmes. DDC exhorted that PRIs should be actively involved in planning of Jal Jeevan Mission and sensitization of public regarding Jal Jeevan Mission.
