DC reviews Transport regulation scenario in Kathua district

KATHUA, May 09: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting of concerned officers here in the DC office complex to take review of the transport regulation and services scenario in the district. 

At the outset, RTO Kathua, Sunil Kumar gave a detailed account of the functioning of the department including the status of road transport connectivity in the district. 

While giving details of the physical achievements, RTO Kathua apprised the Deputy Commissioner that teams of Motor Vehicle Department has collected Rs 5380 lakh of Revenue in  last fiscal wherein funds to the tune of Rs 624 lakh were collected as fees, Rs 4552 lakh as taxes and Rs 203 lakh as Fine/Penalty. 

Besides, the RTO also informed that 12 vehicle related services and 11 Driving License related services are being provided to the public through online mode. He further apprised DC Kathua about the enforcement drives, IEC campaigns and health checkup camps organised for drivers and conductors. He also gave details of road safety measures taken by the MVD in different parts of the district. 

The DC emphasized upon all officers of MVD to provide services to the public in a transparent and efficient manner. He also called for maintaining strict vigil on road safety violations and initiating effective measures to minimize road accidents.
