DC Ramban presides over Capacity Building Training Prog on Drug Abuse; flags off exposure tour for progressive farmers

RAMBAN, March 18: Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam flagged off a group of progressive farmers on a one-day exposure tour to Jammu. The tour was organised under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer, Ashwani Sharma and other relevant officials.

During the event, Deputy Commissioner Mussarat stated that such initiatives would help farmers learn about modern agricultural technology and best practices for improving crop production. The tour also provided farmers with the opportunity to interact with successful farmers and receive expert guidance.

The DC emphasised that the government is working to promote innovative agricultural farming as a source of employment and to encourage farmers to consider farming as a viable business option.

Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam presided over the second day of a capacity building training programme organised by the Department of Social Welfare. The programme focused on early detection and post-detection of drug abuse under the Mission Youth programme ‘Revitalisation of Youth Clubs’.

During the programme, youth club volunteers, students from Government Degree College Ramban, Anganwari and ASHA workers and other volunteers were trained on how to tackle drug abuse. They learned about early detection of addiction, counselling for youth and de-addiction.

The programme featured lectures from Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kaml Zadu, Block Medical Officer, Dr Gumeet Kaur and mental health experts. It was organised under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta in association with other departments.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of raising awareness and spreading knowledge on these topics to prevent drug abuse. He also praised the efforts of collaborating departments and expressed his hope that these training sessions would help curb this menace more effectively.
