‘District Drug Rehabilitation Center with inpatient facility in DH on the anvil’

KISHTWAR, May 04:  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, today visited the Addiction Treatment Facility Centre in the District Hospital and chaired a review meeting with concerned authorities to assess the functioning of the centre.

In attendance were District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed; CMO, Dr. M Y Mir along with Dr. Arif and Dr. Haris besides other staff  of the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) centre and District Hospital Kishtwar.

The staff apprised Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar about the treatment facilities and services provided to the patients undergoing de-addiction treatment. The DC Kishtwar emphasized the importance of providing quality treatment facilities to those struggling with addiction, with care and patience and in an enabling environment.

The meeting was informed that the Social Welfare Department will soon establish a District Drugs Rehabilitation Center within the ATF, which will enable the start of an inpatient facility at the District Hospital.

As a result of the Kishtwar Police’s arrests in drug-related cases over the past few weeks, the number of addicts seeking treatment at the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) has doubled- the ATF staff informed the meeting.

The DC issued a slew of directions to the concerned authorities, including intensifying awareness activities among youth about the ATF centre and disseminating information about the ill effects of drug addiction in collaboration with the Department of Information & Public Relations (DI & PR) centre.

The Deputy Commissioner’s visit and subsequent meeting aimed to assess and improve the treatment and care provided to those struggling with addiction.
