Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan empowers tribal communities in Bandipora

BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 22: To empower communities through grassroots leadership, responsive governance, and last-mile service delivery, district administration Bandipora is implementing the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan (AKA) across 31 tribal villages of the district.

The programme is emerging as a transformative step towards strengthening governance in tribal-dominated areas of the district.

Under the initiative, more than 1,350 Adi Karmayogis are being mobilized across six blocks including Gurez, Tulail, Bagtore, Bandipora, and Bonakoot, covering nearly 50,000 tribal citizens. The campaign is designed to create platforms for participatory planning, community-driven development, and enhanced access to government services.

Various departments including Tribal Welfare, Health, Jal Shakti, Education, Women & Child Development, Forest, and Rural Development are actively engaged in the programme. The first phase, from July 10 to November 15, 2025, focuses on capacity building, community engagement, and development planning.

District administration reiterated that the initiative is expected to ensure saturation of government schemes, promote responsive governance, and nurture local leadership in tribal areas. By institutionalizing grassroots participation, the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan is set to bring about long-term social and economic transformation in Bandipora’s tribal communities.
