18 Kishtwar Youth complete 15-Day Adventure Course training at JIM & WS Pahalgam   

KISHTWAR, May 26: A group of 18 youth from Kishtwar District has completed a rigorous 15-day Adventure Course at the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM & WS) Pahalgam.

The training of the youth was made possible through Project SANKALP, an initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development, aimed at fostering skill development and empowerment among the youth.

The Adventure Course at JIM & WS Pahalgam, known for its comprehensive training modules and expert guidance, provided the participants with an exceptional opportunity to enhance their mountaineering and winter sports skills. Under the guidance of highly experienced instructors, the course encompassed various aspects of mountaineering, including rock climbing, rappelling, river crossing, ice craft, snow craft, and basic survival techniques.

The 18 youth from Kishtwar exhibited great dedication, perseverance, and teamwork throughout the course, effectively honing their physical fitness, mental resilience, and problem-solving abilities. They embraced the challenging terrains and adverse weather conditions, demonstrating their commitment to personal growth and adventure.

Pertinent to mention that Project SANKALP, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development, seeks to empower and equip youth with employable skills, fostering their overall development and enabling them to contribute effectively to the nation’s progress. The successful completion of the Adventure Course by the 18 youth from Kishtwar serves as a testament to the effectiveness of this program in nurturing talent and promoting adventure sports.

The District Administration Kishtwar along with the Ministry of Skill Development and Kishtwar Development Authority congratulated all the participants who have successfully completed the adventure course at JIM & WS Pahalgam.

 Under the initiative, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, aims to foster a pool of resourceful individuals who can promote adventure and tourism activities in the district. Previously, a group of 5 candidates were sent to the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports in Pahalgam for a basic mountaineering course besides a 10-day Travel and Tourists Guide training course was conducted at the State Bank of India Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI RSETI) in Kishtwar on March 25, 2023 for 32 youths from across the Kishtwar District, empowering them with the knowledge and skills required to serve as competent guides for tourists visiting the region.
